LifeStream Volunteer Honored with Golden Hoosier Award by the State of Indiana

Beth Edwards, a dedicated and active volunteer with LifeStream Services and Indiana University Ball Hospital, was one of just 22 older adults to receive the Golden Hoosier Award from the State of Indiana at a reception and award ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse on Thursday, June 21. The Golden Hoosier Award acknowledges outstanding Indiana senior citizens for the impact they have made on the lives of others and their community. The award is the highest honor given to a senior in Indiana.

Edwards was nominated by LifeStream Services where she has accumulated 614 hours to-date volunteering with the Forest Park Senior Center Café site, the finance department, and AngelWish, a holiday program that delivers gifts to isolated seniors in the community. In addition, her recent volunteerism includes more than 370 hours at Indiana University Ball Hospital, as well as a local food pantry each Saturday. Edwards has also volunteered twenty consecutive years with Feed My Sheep, a Thanksgiving Day service initiative with Muncie Central High School.

Laura Bray, LifeStream Volunteer Services Administrator, had no doubt that Edwards was deserving of this prestigious award.

“When the Golden Hoosier Award nominations were announced it was no question to us who we wanted to nominate,” Bray commented. “Beth’s passion to serve others in her community is unmatched. It is truly an honor to work with her.”

Beth is a passionate and devoted member of the community who strives to serve others through empowerment and a sustained commitment to service. Whether it is delivering and preparing meals on Thanksgiving Day or packaging a gift that may be the only one a person will receive during the holidays, Beth has enriched the lives of many.
